These organisms are recognized as ectoparasites that inhabit the soil and feed on the roots of various plants using their needle-like structure known as an odontostyle, which is capable of penetrating deep into plant tissues.

This species is known to infest a wide range of host plants, including perennial crops such as vineyards, fruit orchards, and ornamental trees. By causing physical damage to the root system, Longidorus cretensis impairs the plant's ability to absorb essential nutrients and moisture, which leads to significant physiological stress in affected plants.

The life cycle of this nematode occurs entirely in the soil.
