Platyobria is a genus of insects belonging to the family Cecidomyiidae (gall midges), order Diptera. These insects are classified as significant plant pests because they induce the formation of galls — abnormal outgrowths on plant tissues — which disrupts the normal physiological processes and development of the host plant.
