Trophurus imperialis is a species of plant-parasitic nematode belonging to the order Tylenchida and the family Trophuridae. This microscopic pest is an obligate parasite of the root systems of many agricultural crops, living primarily in the soil and the rhizosphere of the host plants.
This species affects a wide range of crops, including cereals, vegetables, and fruit plants. The most significant damage is observed in fields subjected to monocropping or poor crop rotation practices, where the pest population can build up in the soil over successive seasons, eventually leading to severe crop loss.
The biology of Trophurus imperialis involves both ectoparasitic and semi-endoparasitic feeding behaviors.
