The cabbage stunt nematode, scientifically known as Tylenchorhynchus brassicae, belongs to the order Tylenchida and the family Dolichodoridae. It is a migratory ectoparasitic nematode that lives in the soil and feeds on the epidermis of plant roots without entering the root tissues completely.

This nematode primarily affects members of the Brassicaceae family. Major host crops include cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, and oilseed rape. It can also persist on various cruciferous weeds, making it a persistent challenge in agricultural fields with diverse crop rotations.
Biology and lifecycle
