Host range: This nematode species is known to infest a diverse range of crops, with a particular affinity for perennial plants. Commercial vineyards, citrus orchards, coffee plantations, and various ornamental nursery stocks are frequently affected. Due to its wide host range, it poses a significant threat to long-term agricultural investments in both tropical and temperate zones.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle of Xiphinema brasiliense is entirely soil-borne. These nematodes thrive in moist, well-aerated soils where they can move between root zones. They use their elongated, hollow stylets to pierce plant roots and extract nutrients.
