Xiphinema neoamericanum is a plant-parasitic nematode belonging to the phylum Nematoda, class Enoplea, order Dorylaimida, and family Longidoridae. These microscopic organisms function as ectoparasites, inhabiting the soil environment and feeding primarily on the tips of plant roots using their specialized, needle-like stylet.

This nematode species targets a variety of important agricultural and horticultural crops, most notably fruit orchards, vineyards, and berry bushes. Because these nematodes can persist in the soil for long periods and have a wide host range, they pose a significant challenge to farmers managing perennial cropping systems.

The biology of Xiphinema neoamericanum is characterized by a slow but steady reproductive rate, heavily influenced by soil temperature and moisture levels.
