Description
Seedling from open pollination of the Monarezhi variety. Developed at the Crimean Experimental-Selection Station of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Growing named after N.I. Vavilov, by G.V. Yeremin and A.V. Isachkin. Included in the State Register in 2006 for the North Caucasus region.
Tree vigorous, with a round, dense crown.
Fruits are large, 35 g, oval, dark purple, hairy. Flesh is yellow, medium density, juicy, sour-sweet, aromatic, good flavor. Stone is medium-sized, easily separates. Fruits ripen at the end of July, transportable, suitable for fresh consumption and canning.
Winter hardiness of the tree and flower buds is sufficiently high, comparable to that of Russian plum and apricot varieties. Resistant to moniliosis, clasterosporiosis, cytosporosis, and bacterial disease. Self-sterile. Early bearing — comparable to apricot (begins fruiting at 2-3 years).
Advantages: good flavor and canning qualities of fruits, winter hardiness, disease resistance.
Disadvantages: vigorous growth, moderate productivity.
