Description
This variety was obtained through artificial crossbreeding of varieties (Zhukovskaya x Zolushka + Zarya Povolzhya). Originator — All-Russian Research Institute of Fruit Crop Selection. Authors: A.F. Medium-growing tree, up to 3 m tall. Crown is spreading, rounded-oval, slightly raised, medium density. Branches are medium, straight, brownish-brown. Bark on trunk and main branches is flaking, brown. Bud 4 mm, oval shape, strongly deviated from the shoot. Leaf narrowly oval, green. Apex sharply pointed, base tapered, leaf margin serrated-toothed. Leaf blade surface wrinkled, matte, curved downward. Stipules located at base of leaf and petiole. Petiole 35 mm long, 1.7 mm thick, pigmented. Number of flowers per inflorescence: 3. Corolla diameter 25.2 mm, saucer-shaped, open. Petals white, petal arrangement touching. Stigma positioned relatively higher than anthers. Stigma length 8.3 mm, anther length 6.4 mm. Calyx shape bell-shaped, strong toothedness of calyx lobes. Fruits borne on panicle branches.
Fruits weighing 4.4–5.0 g, round shape, height 20 mm, width 17.5 mm, thickness 19 mm. Fruit has no depression, apex rounded. Fruits dark red. Flesh dark red, medium density, tender, juice dark red. Pedicel long, medium thickness. Stone oval, 0.25 g weight, constitutes 5.7% of fruit weight, yellow color, easily separates from flesh. Fresh fruit taste rating 4.5 points. Good fruit detachment from pedicel. Variety is of universal use. Fruits contain 15.3% dry matter, 10.18% sugars, 1.66% acids.
Flowering in medium late period (May 17–20). Fruit ripening in medium late period (July 12–16). Begins fruiting in 4th year. Partially self-fertile. Average yield 84.2 centners per hectare, maximum 125.8 centners per hectare. Frost damage to trees is minimal, flower bud cold resistance is medium. Affected moderately by coccomyces and moniliosis.
Advantages: good yield, high fruit flavor qualities.
Disadvantages: relatively low resistance to coccomyces.
