Description
SILICIANA — this is an early-maturing, high-yielding hybrid of corn (Zea mays L.), intended for cultivation as grain and silage. It belongs to the double-row hybrid type and is distinguished by high stress tolerance, enabling successful cultivation under various climatic conditions, including northern and eastern regions. The vegetation period is 118 days, ensuring timely harvest. Plants reach a height of 210–220 cm, with an ear attachment height of 65–66 cm, and ear length varies from 25 to 27 cm. Grain is soft-flint (SoftFlint), with 16–18 rows and 22–26 kernels per row, with an average 1000-kernel weight of 315 g.
The hybrid demonstrates high yield: average grain yield in the Central region reaches 75.4 c/ha, with a maximum of 87.1 c/ha. Grain moisture at harvest is approximately 18.2%, facilitating subsequent processing and storage. SILICIANA exhibits drought tolerance, cold resistance, as well as tolerance to high soil acidity and high soil moisture. In addition, the hybrid is characterized by lodging resistance, which contributes to maintaining harvest quality.
The plant exhibits dynamic, intensive growth in early development stages, promoting rapid yield formation. SILICIANA also shows resistance to a range of diseases, including southern helminthosporiosis, blister rust, ear Fusarium, and bacterial diseases, which reduces yield losses and improves quality. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, this hybrid is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve stable and high corn yields under various agroclimatic conditions.

Dual-purpose hybrids: for silage and grain in all growing regions. These are "stay-green" type hybrids, meaning the plants remain green for a longer period. However, this does not affect the sugar, cellulose, and hemicellulose content, nor the degree of lignification of the plant... |
