SIR 10

Winter garlic variety SIR 10 was bred at the Siberian Institute of Plant Breeding and Selection and is intended for cultivation in the West Siberian region. This variety belongs to the bulbing group and is recommended for planting with cloves or single cloves in the third decade of September. The leaves are medium-sized, dark green with a bluish-gray tint and a medium waxy coating, 28–32 cm long and 0.8–2.3 cm wide. The scape reaches a length of 74 cm, and the aerial bulbs are large, weighing about 0.16 g.

Bulbs of the SIR 10 variety have an oval-flat shape with a slight taper upwards, a diameter of 3.5–4.5 cm, and a height of 3.7 cm. They are of medium density and weigh approximately 29 g. The number of cloves varies from 4 to 9, with a simple structure. The flesh is dense, the outer skins are light violet in color (4–6 pieces), and the juicy inner skins are yellowish-white and 1.8–2.2 cm thick. The garlic taste is sharp, making it attractive for culinary use.

The variety matures in an average of 83–87 days and is characterized by good yield—0.3 to 0.5 kg per square meter. SIR 10 garlic is resistant to bacterial bulb rot, which increases its reliability during cultivation. Due to its characteristics and adaptation to the regional climate, this variety is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking high-quality and tasty garlic.
