Krasen

The Krasen grape represents a universal variety with a medium ripening period, successfully cultivated under various climatic conditions. The bushes are vigorous with hermaphroditic flowers, ensuring good fruiting even on suckers. The clusters have an acute conical shape, weigh from 400 to 600 grams, and are often accompanied by wings. The berries are round, dark blue, almost black, with a thin skin and juicy, fleshy pulp containing a high amount of juice. Sugar content reaches 30%, acidity is 6-8 g/l, and must yield can reach 78%. The taste is harmonious and interesting, with muscat notes that disappear as the berries fully ripen. The absence of seeds or the presence of small rudiments makes this variety resemble raisin grapes.

Krasen is characterized by high yield — up to 180 centners of selected harvest can be collected from one hectare. The variety possesses genetically determined resistance to biotic factors such as phylloxera, downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray rot, as well as to abiotic stresses, including frosts up to -25°C and drought. In southern regions, the grape does not require winter protection, whereas in colder areas, such as Kharkiv, Sumy, and Donetsk, protection is recommended. The plant responds well to compact and precise training, achieving optimal quality and cluster size.

The Krasen variety is versatile in application: it is used both for fresh consumption and for the production of high-quality table and dessert wines, including wines of the type "Cahors". Additionally, the grape is suitable for making raisins and non-alcoholic beverages. Due to its taste qualities, durability, and high yield, Krasen is popular among viticulturists and grape lovers.
