Ovidiopolsky

Ovidiopolsky grape variety, developed by the Institute of Viticulture and Enology named after V.E. Tairov, is a medium-growing, hermaphroditic variety with white berries, intended for wine production. Bunches and berries have medium size, berries are round with a waxy bloom and light-green color. The flesh is juicy, and the skin is tough, which contributes to good berry preservation. The variety is characterized by stable and high yield, making it attractive for both novice and experienced growers.

Ovidiopolsky grape shows high resistance to major diseases such as mildew, black spot, and gray rot of berries. Additionally, the variety is characterized by increased winter hardiness and low maintenance requirements, which simplifies care and reduces the risk of crop loss. Bud break occurs in 95%, indicating good plant viability under various climatic conditions.

This variety is widely used for producing dry table and white blended wines, as well as for juice production. Wines made from Ovidiopolsky grapes receive high tasting ratings, reaching 8 points out of 10, due to balanced sugar content (18.4–21.3%) and acidity (6.2–8.8 g/l).
