A high-performance systemic herbicide for selective weed control in fodder and table beet crops.
Description
Mechanism of action: selectivity in crop protection
"Agrichem Metamitron, SC" is a herbicide based on metamitron, a triazine compound designed for selective weed control in fodder and table beet crops. The chemical works by inhibiting the photosynthesis process within weed tissues—specifically by blocking electron transport in photosystem II. Because beet crops have a physiological capability to metabolize metamitron into inactive derivatives rapidly, the crop remains unaffected, while target weeds suffer from severe energy depletion and subsequent death.
Technical characteristics of the formulation
The suspension concentrate (SC) formulation provides excellent stability of the spray solution and ensures uniform adhesion to leaf surfaces. Acting as a systemic post-emergence herbicide, it penetrates the leaves effectively to provide curative and preventative action. Key technical parameters:
- Application rate: 2–6 L/ha, adjustable based on weed pressure and crop development stage.
- Maximum applications: up to 3 times per season, allowing for effective sequential control of weed flushes.
- Spectrum of activity: highly effective against Common lambsquarters (Chenopodium album), Redroot pigweed, Wild mustard, Shepherd's-purse, Chickweed, Purple deadnettle, and Field pansy.
The selectivity of "Agrichem Metamitron, SC" allows for early-stage application when the beet crop is most vulnerable to competition for light and nutrients. The systemic nature of the product ensures that even weeds with difficult-to-wet surfaces, such as those with waxy or hairy leaves, are thoroughly controlled.
Practical application guidelines
Optimal results are achieved when the product is applied at the stage when the beet crop reaches its first true leaf pair. As a post-emergence (insurance) herbicide, timing is critical; applications should be carried out before weeds surpass the 2-4 leaf stage. By utilizing the maximum of three allowed applications, farmers can effectively maintain clean fields throughout the entire critical weed-free period, securing the potential yield of the root crop.

By type of action
Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |
