Mechanism of Action and Selectivity

AgroKipper is based on the active ingredient quizalofop-P-ethyl at a concentration of 90 g/l. This compound belongs to the aryloxyphenoxypropionate group, which inhibits the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase). In practice, this stops the synthesis of fatty acids essential for new cell growth. Since this enzyme functions differently in dicotyledonous crops and grassy weeds, the product shows high selectivity, allowing it to protect fodder beet crops without the risk of phytotoxicity.

Systemic Transport Properties

The emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation ensures optimal adhesion to the leaf surface. Upon application, the active ingredient is rapidly absorbed by weed foliage and transported via the phloem directly to growth points, including roots and rhizomes. This mobility is critical when combating perennial grasses such as couch grass (Elymus repens), as the herbicide eliminates not just the above-ground biomass, but the underground regenerative organs as well.

Technical Recommendations

• Optimal Growth Stage: Maximum efficacy is achieved when weeds are at the 2–4 leaf stage (for annuals) or 10–15 cm in height (for perennial grasses).
• Environmental Factors: Adequate soil moisture accelerates metabolic processes in weeds, which enhances the systemic action of the product.
• Selective Application: Can be used throughout the vegetation period of the beet crop, provided temperature conditions (12°C to 25°C) are maintained.
