"Ekran Total EC" from the Ukrainian manufacturer "Klov" is based on acetochlor in the form of an emulsifiable concentrate. As a systemic soil herbicide, it operates by creating a "protective screen" in the topsoil layer. The active ingredient inhibits protein and nucleic acid synthesis in germinating weeds, effectively blocking their development before they emerge.

Why the Emulsifiable Concentrate Form Matters

Using an EC formulation allows the active ingredient to distribute more evenly throughout the soil profile. When applied at the correct dosage (1.0–2.0 L/ha), the product forms a stable film that resists washing away during moderate rainfall, providing prolonged protection for corn during the critical phase — from sowing to the 3-4 leaf stage.

Practical Application Aspects

• Selectivity: The product exhibits selective action, effectively suppressing annual grasses and broadleaf weeds without causing phytotoxicity to corn when used according to regulations.
• Timing: It must be applied exclusively pre-emergence. Proper soil preparation is crucial — the absence of large clods ensures better contact between the herbicide and soil particles.
• Safety: The product is classified as Hazard Class 2, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols when handling the concentrate. A single seasonal application is recommended to prevent residual buildup.
