A reliable selective contact herbicide for controlling broadleaf weeds in soybean and pea crops.
Description
Effective Weed Control in Soybeans and Peas: Working with Flagman
In soybean and pea fields, timing is everything. When invasive weeds like white goosefoot or ragweed start to threaten the crop yield, we turn to "Flagman" by the Cherkasy-based "Fabryka Ahrokhimikativ". As a contact-action herbicide, it is designed for precise post-emergence application. Because it is not systemic, success relies entirely on how well the leaves are covered during the spray process.
Practical Application and Performance
Our experience shows that applying 1.5–3 l/ha is sufficient to control a wide range of broadleaf weeds, including pigweed, wild radish, and shepherd’s purse. It is a selective herbicide, meaning it spares the crop while hitting the targets. Key tips for field operations:
- Growth Stage: Aim for early application, targeting weeds when they have 2–4 true leaves.
- Environmental Conditions: Flagman works best on warm, sunny days. It needs high air humidity to perform at its peak. Avoid spraying during extreme drought to prevent crop stress.
- Coverage: Since it is a contact product, use a sufficient water volume (200–300 l/ha) to ensure the target weeds are thoroughly coated.
The formulation, a soluble concentrate with 480 g/l of bentazon, is highly user-friendly. It mixes well in the tank and doesn't clog sprayer nozzles, which helps maintain efficiency during long hours in the field. Maintenance of the equipment is easy as the product is stable and non-corrosive. Rated at hazard class 3, it is manageable for the operator, provided basic personal protective equipment is worn. We recommend avoiding inter-row cultivation for several days after application to allow the bentazon to fully penetrate the weeds, ensuring long-lasting effectiveness for the season.
