Effective Weed Control: Field Experience with Mytus

When perennial weeds like couch grass and creeping thistle threaten your corn yields, and lamb's quarters start taking over, it's time to rely on systemic solutions. This season, we tested «Mytus» by the brand «Ruton». As an operator, I found this product highly practical: the water-dispersible granules dissolve perfectly, making the preparation of the spray solution straightforward and hassle-free.

Performance and Weed Control

Mytus acts as a high-performance post-emergence herbicide. Its main strength lies in the combination of nicosulfuron and rimsulfuron. This synergy of sulfonylureas allows the product to effectively target even those weeds that have passed their early growth stages. In our trials, it showed excellent results against persistent weeds like bindweed, amaranth, and green foxtail. The application rate is extremely efficient, capped at 25 grams per hectare.

• Systemic Action: The active ingredients are rapidly absorbed by the foliage and translocated throughout the plant, including the root system, which is crucial for eradicating tough weeds like couch grass.
• Selectivity: Corn remains completely safe. When applied correctly, there is no crop inhibition, making it a gentle but powerful tool for the agronomist.
• Flexibility: Post-emergence application allows for precise targeting based on the actual weed density observed in the field.

Operational Insights

The formulation of Mytus is user-friendly; the granules do not create dust, which improves safety for the person filling the sprayer. The low application rate (up to 25 g/ha) significantly reduces storage requirements and logistical effort. For planning purposes, note that the pre-harvest interval is just 1 day, offering great flexibility for your field schedule. To maximize performance, we suggest using an adjuvant to improve coverage, as systemic herbicides work best when the leaf surface is fully wetted.
