"Progard" by F.Superus Co., Ltd. is a selective systemic herbicide containing prometryn (500 g/l), designed to create an active protective screen within the topsoil layer. The primary technical objective of this formulation is to block photosynthesis during the early stages of weed development, which is vital for maintaining yield potential in sensitive crops like coriander or carrots.

Action and Selectivity

The active ingredient is absorbed by weeds via two pathways: the root system and the hypocotyls of germinating seedlings. High selectivity is achieved because the target crops possess the biochemical ability to detoxify prometryn, whereas susceptible annual broadleaf and grass weeds are unable to do so, leading to their elimination. The suspension concentrate formulation ensures high physical stability of the active ingredient in the soil solution, maintaining a protective barrier for 6–8 weeks.
