Systemic graminicide based on clethodim for effective control of grass weeds in broad-leaved crops.
Description
Mechanism of Action and Selectivity
"SELENIT, KE" is based on clethodim, an active ingredient from the cyclohexanedione class. Unlike many other graminicides, this formulation has a unique capacity for rapid absorption through the leaf surface. The systemic effect allows clethodim molecules to reach the weeds' growth points within an hour after application. The product inhibits lipid synthesis in meristematic tissues, leading to the cessation of growth and the destruction of the root system of grass weeds.
Technical Protection Aspects
- Formulation: The emulsifiable concentrate ensures high stability of the working solution and optimal adhesion to the waxy cuticle of weeds (quackgrass, barnyard grass, foxtail).
- Selectivity: Designed as a selective herbicide, it is safe for broad-leaved crops such as beets, sunflowers, and potatoes. The key to its efficacy is a systemic mode of action that does not interfere with the physiological processes of dicotyledonous plants.
- Application Flexibility: Post-emergence application allows for precise field management once the spectrum of grass weeds is clearly identifiable.
Given the application rate of 0.4–1.6 l/ha, uniform coverage is critical. Because "SELENIT, KE" is a foliage-applied herbicide, its activity depends directly on the contact area with the actively growing weed. We recommend application during the active growth phase: 2-4 leaves for annuals, and 10-15 cm in height for quackgrass. A 30-day pre-harvest interval ensures no residual active substance in the final commodity crop.

By type of action
Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

Based on the method of application, herbicides are divided into foliar, soil, and root herbicides. Foliar herbicides are applied to vegetative plants and act through their above-ground organs. The main method of application for such preparations is spraying using sprayers or airp... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
