Description
Duna Mustard – an early-maturing Sarapata breed variety created by individual selection of elite plants using self-pollination from a hybrid combination of mustard and rapeseed. The seeds of this variety have a brown color, which makes them particularly attractive for Dijon mustard production, where dark seeds and a high level of essential oil are valued.
The key characteristic of Duna is its high essential oil content – 0.76%. This ensures a rich aroma and increased spiciness of the finished condiment. At the same time, the oil does not contain erucic acid, making it suitable for food use. The seeds are also rich in antioxidants and phytoncides, contributing to improved raw material quality.
The variety is characterized by high potential yield – 41 c/ha, and the oil content of the seeds reaches 44%. The mass of 1000 seeds is about 3.1–3.3 g. Due to resistance to lodging and shattering, Duna is suitable for a wide range of applications: from condiment production to use as green fodder and cover crop.
Growing Duna mustard allows obtaining raw material with improved properties, making it in demand among both farmers and food producers.
