Description
This variety was obtained by crossing Red Ball and Kitayanka. Originator — VNIISF (All-Russian Research Institute of Fruit Crop Selection). Authors: A.F. Kolesnikova, G.B. Zhdanova. Introduced into the State Register in 2001 for the Central Chernozem region.
Tree medium-sized, 2-2.5 m tall. Pyramidal crown, raised, medium density. Shoots straight, reddish-brown, with moderate bark coloration, medium internodes, no pubescence. Buds convex, medium, rarely arranged. Buds conical, medium, slightly deviated from shoots. Leaves elongated-ovate, long-pointed, light green. Apex sharply pointed, base pointed, leaf margin doubly serrated. Leaf blade surface smooth, matte, curved upward. Glands 1-3, located at leaf base and petiole. Petiole 20 mm long, medium thickness, pigmented. Number of flowers in inflorescence 3. Corolla diameter 12.7 mm, open. Petals white, touching. Stigma positioned higher relative to stamens. Stigma length 8.1 mm, stamen length 5.5 mm. Calyx bell-shaped, no serration on calyx lobes.
Fruits weighing 30-35 g, round, 38 mm high, 44 mm in diameter. Fruit depression wide, apex rounded. Fruit color red, bark color dark red. Flesh orange, medium density, juicy, slightly fibrous, juice colorless. Pedicel short, medium thickness. Stone oval, 1.0 g, poorly separates from flesh. Fruits attractive in appearance, rated 4.8 points, flesh tender, tart-sweet, excellent taste. Fresh fruit tasting score 4.6 points. Good detachment from pedicel. Fruits resistant to cracking. Table variety. Fruits contain: dry matter — 11.6%, sugars — 8.77%, acids — 1.39%.
Flowering early (May 4-8). Fruit ripening early (August 15-20). Enters fruiting at age 3. Fruits borne on fruiting spurs. Self-sterile; good pollinators: Sкороплодная and other varieties of Chinese and Russian plum. Moderately resistant to Clasterosporium and Moniliosis. Average yield 88.6 c/ha, maximum 199.8 c/ha. Moderate winter hardiness. Variety suitable for commercial, amateur cultivation, and breeding (for flavor and fruit quality).
Advantages: high fruit flavor and commercial quality.
Disadvantages: leaves and young shoots heavily infested by aphids.
