Description
This variety was developed at the Siberian Horticulture Research Institute named after M.A. Lisavensky in the mountainous zone of the Altai (Chemal village) by M.N. Matyunin through selection among seedlings from open pollination of the 'Krasnyy Shar' variety.
The tree is medium-sized with a spreading crown. The main type of fruiting is in clusters. Bark of branches is dark gray and smooth. Shoots are slightly curved, thick, bare, with numerous stipules, light brown. Vegetative buds are conical, fruiting buds are rounded. Leaves up to 12.0 cm long and 5.5 cm wide, inversely egg-shaped, dark green, with a wedge-shaped base, sometimes with a sharp tip. Leaf blade is shiny, wrinkled, slightly curved like a boat, with wavy toothed edge, turned downward. Petiole of medium length, anthocyanic color. Flowers of medium size, cup-shaped, white.
Fruits are large (34.6 g), oval, almost round. The depression and ventral suture are moderately expressed. Main color is yellow, covering color is burgundy-red. Flesh is whitish-yellow, fibrous, sour-sweet, good taste. Pit is medium-sized, oval, easily separates from the flesh. Pedicel is short, easily detaches from the fruit. Fruits contain soluble solids up to 15.6%, sugars up to 10.3%, acids up to 1.2%, ascorbic acid up to 8.9 mg/100g, P-active compounds up to 412.0 mg/100g. The variety is of universal use.
High yield, but fruiting is irregular. Self-sterile. Winter hardiness of the tree and fruit buds is satisfactory, but susceptible to fruit rot. Shows increased requirement for water supply.
Advantages of the variety: high commercial quality of fruits.
Disadvantages: increased requirement for water supply, susceptibility to fruit rot.
