As an ectoparasite, this organism feeds on the epidermal and cortical cells of plant roots by inserting its stylet into the tissue while its body remains outside in the soil environment.

It is frequently observed causing significant damage in vegetable production, particularly affecting tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce. The presence of suitable host roots in both greenhouse and field conditions facilitates the establishment and spread of the nematode population.
