The English iris (Iris latifolia) is a bulbous flowering plant belonging to the Iridaceae family. Despite its common name, the species is native to the Pyrenees and northwest Spain, where it grows in cool, mountainous meadows. It is highly valued in horticulture for its spectacular, large blooms that appear in early summer, offering a color palette that ranges from deep blues and purples to pristine white.
Botanically, Iris latifolia is characterized by its bulbous root system, narrow, channeled leaves, and tall, sturdy stems reaching up to 60 cm.
