Lubskaya Seedling

Origin of the variety: Lubskaya seedling from open pollination. Breeder — South Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Cultivation (YUUNIIPOK). Authors: A.E. Pankratova, K.K. Mullaev, V.I. Putyatin. Introduced into the State Register in 2002 for the Ural region.

Medium-growing tree, height 1.5-2.0 m. Round-oval crown, medium density, good leafing. Shoots are grayish-silver, medium thickness. Buds are medium-sized, elongated, angled at 60° relative to the shoot. Leaves are narrowly oval, large — length 10.8 cm, width 4.5 cm, apex short-pointed, base pointed, margin doubly serrated, medium serration, surface smooth, weakly shiny, glabrous, leaf blade slightly folded along the main vein. Stipules are medium-sized, round, yellow. Petiole is medium — 1.7 cm, medium thickness, with anthocyanin. Leaf stipules are lanceolate-sickle-shaped. Inflorescence contains 5 flowers, large, diameter 3.5 cm, corolla bowl-shaped, petals touching each other, medium wrinkling, petals white, apex divided, broadly inverted ovate shape. Style is higher than stamens, 28 stamens. Flowering and fruiting type is mixed, primarily on one- or two-year-old growth.

Fruit: mass 5.0 g, shape broadly round, surface smooth, apex depressed, wide depression, ventral side sloped toward base, groove along the fruit, ventral seam poorly expressed. Fruit color dark red, no covering. Flesh color red, juice color dark rose, flesh medium density. Stone is oval, mass 0.21 g, constitutes 4.5-6.0% of fruit mass, color light yellow, length 0.9 cm, width 0.75 cm, thickness 0.50 cm, tapered upward, dorsal seam sharp, ventral seam broad, ribs sharp, stone easily separates from flesh.

Fruit appearance — 5 points, flesh juicy, taste slightly sour-sweet, taste rating 4.9 points, fruit detachment from pedicel dry and easy, variety suitable for mechanical harvesting, fruits resistant to cracking. Universal use, primarily fresh, also suitable for all processing types. Dry matter content — 15.6%, sugars — 8.5%, free acids — 1.9%, ascorbic acid — 11.0 mg/100g.

Flowering period — May 17-27. Ripening period — June 21 — July 10, very early, fruits ripen simultaneously. Enters fruiting on the 4th year, longevity 20 years — average. Partially self-fertile, not demanding of pollinators. High yield — 5 kg per tree or 6.2 t/ha. High frost resistance of tree and shoots. High generative bud resistance to winter frosts, medium flower resistance to spring frosts. High drought, heat resistance and resistance to coccomycosis. No visible disease or pest damage.

Production assessment of the variety is high — very early ripening, naturally growing tree, no need for pruning, high yield, free of coccomycosis.

Advantages: one of the earliest ripening varieties on the Ural; dessert flavor of fruits, tree habit, early ripening and flavor resemble cherry; high resistance to coccomycosis.
