Description
This variety was obtained by crossing the 'Subbotinskaya' variety with hybrid seedling 'VCH 11-59-2' (steppe cherry x Maack's bird cherry) at the Siberian Institute of Horticulture named after M.A. Lisavensky. Medium-sized, multi-stemmed shrub, up to 1.9 m tall. Round, moderately dense crown. Bark of branches brown with a grayish coating, smooth, with few lenticels. Shoots of medium thickness, straight. Internodes of medium length. Buds conical, blunt. Leaves medium-sized, of medium width, elliptical, base rounded, apex long-acuminate. Leaf blade smooth, dark green, matte, concave (boat-shaped) upward, serrated margin with toothed edges. Leaf petiole green, medium length, medium thickness, small yellow, round, barely noticeable glands; no stipules. Flowers medium-sized, up to 2-5 per cluster, horn-shaped, white, 20-25 mm in diameter, petal shape ovate-egg-shaped, 5-6 x 8-10 mm, buds rose-colored with an orange tinge, sepals 4-5 x 5-7 mm, oval.
Fruits round, one-dimensional, 13 mm high, 14 mm wide, average weight 2.9 g, uniformly colored, dark red. Flesh dark red, dense, juicy. Juice dark red. Pedicel medium-sized, 30-40 mm, medium thickness 2-2.5 mm. Stone small, oval, 0.18 g. Fruit flavor sour-sweet. Pedicel attachment to fruit medium. Fruits contain 16.2% dry matter, 8.76% sugars, 1.88% acids, Vitamin C — 39.32 mg/100g.
Fruits ripen in the second decade of August, good transportability. Shoots stop growing in the first decade of July; leaf fall ends in the second decade of October; heat-tolerant, drought-resistant. Average yield per bush 4.4 kg, maximum 7.2 kg.
Moderately winter-hardy, self-sterile, versatile use, insufficiently resistant to coccomyces; during epidemics, affected up to 2-3 points. Selected for late ripening. Best pollinators: Altai Lastochka, Selifertovskaya, Maximovskaya, Subbotinskaya, Zhelannaya.
Advantages of the variety: high yield, resistant to sunscald, easily propagated by green cuttings.
Disadvantages: susceptible to coccomyces, may freeze after heavy fruiting.
