Description
Red currant variety "Buzhanska" is a compact bush of medium height, about 1.5 meters, with upright green stems. The plant's crown is not dense, which facilitates care and harvesting. The variety is characterized by a medium-early ripening period — berries reach maturity in mid-July. Berries are bright red, weighing from 0.5 to 1 gram, with a sour-sweet taste and light-red juicy flesh, which is highly flavorful.
"Buzhanska" berries do not drop off the bush for a long time, allowing for convenient harvest. Yield is 5 to 7 kilograms per bush, making the variety attractive for both commercial cultivation and personal gardens. The plant exhibits high resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew and spotting, but it has low frost tolerance, so winter protection is recommended.
For planting, use container-grown saplings with a 3-liter volume and height of 30-40 cm. The optimal time to plant saplings with an open root system is October, with the planting hole being sufficiently spacious for free root placement. After planting, prune stems to 2-3 buds, which stimulates the growth of strong new branches. Container-grown saplings can be planted throughout the year, except during winter.
