Description
Late-maturing variety, developed at the Zonal Research Institute of Horticulture of the North-East named after N.V. Rudnitsky by crossing the varieties Leningrad Giant and Bredtorp. Authors: G.A. Plenkin, A.G. Loginycheva, G.N. Kosolapova, S.A. Kovrizhnykh. Registered in the State Register of Selection Achievements approved for use in the Volga-Vyatka region in 2006.
Strong-growing, medium-spreading, dense bush. Growing shoots are medium and thin, straight, green, slightly hairy.
Three-lobed leaf, medium-sized, green, blade slightly hairy, medium density, wrinkled, concave. Lobes are pointed, central lobe exceeds lateral ones. Angle between lobes is acute, leaf tips are sharp. Petiole of medium length and thickness, greenish.
Flowers of medium size, pale color. Calyx lobes are medium. Inflorescence is short, berries are densely and moderately arranged. Axis is medium, curved, hairy.
Berries are large and medium-sized (1.0-1.1 g), single-ribbed, round, black, with medium seed count, thick skin, sour-sweet flavor with aroma, rating 4.4 points, universal use. Calyx is half-open, pedicel is medium length and thin. Chemical composition: total sugar — 10.2%, titratable acidity — 3.6%, ascorbic acid — 115.2 mg/100 g, pectic substances — 1.4%.
Winter-hardy, high-yielding variety, average yield 5.0 t/ha (potential 9.5-10.2 t/ha), self-fertile, relatively resistant to powdery mildew.
Advantages of the variety: very late ripening, berries detach dry, do not overripen on the bush, dessert flavor, suitable for any processing.
Disadvantages of the variety: insufficient large-fruitedness, unstable ascorbic acid content year by year.
