Description
Gofert black currant variety — a high-yielding and very early Polish selection, ripening at the end of June — beginning of July. The berries of this variety are medium to large in size, weighing about 2 grams or more, with dense, juicy, and aromatic flesh possessing a pleasant sour-sweet taste. Due to its high content of extract, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and anthocyanin pigments, the fruit not only possesses excellent taste qualities but also high nutritional value.
Gofert variety bushes are characterized by strong, medium-thick, and elastic canes, which ensure their resistance to mechanical harvesting using various types of harvesters. The variety is highly resistant to fungal diseases such as Sphaerotheca morsuvae and Cronartium ribicola, and it also exhibits good winter hardiness and drought tolerance. This makes it suitable for cultivation both in private gardens and on an industrial scale, including regions with moderate climates.
The berries are versatile in application: they are excellent for fresh consumption, freezing, and processing. High transportability and storability of the fruit allow maintaining their quality during transport and storage. Thus, the Gofert variety represents a reliable choice for gardeners and producers seeking an early, flavorful, and resilient black currant harvest.
