Description
Early-maturing variety, obtained at Yakutsk NIIHS from seedlings of blackcurrant (R. pauciflorum). Breeders: M.A. Chertkova, L.P. Gotozheva. Included in the State Register of Varieties approved for use in the Eastern Siberian region in 1989.
Medium-height, medium-spreading, medium-density bush. Medium-thick, unbranched, yellow-brown stems. Medium-sized, solitary, spindle-shaped buds, pressed close to the stem, strongly colored with anthocyanin, densely hairy. Leaf scar shape is wedge-shaped.
Five-lobed leaf, medium-sized, dark green, slightly glossy, leathery, wrinkled, blade concave along main veins. Leaf margin serrated. Lobes pointed, central lobe slightly longer than lateral ones. Angle between lateral lobe veins obtuse. Basal lobes clearly expressed, spread out. Base heart-shaped, indentation of medium depth and width, open. Teeth large, broad. Petiole long, hairy, purple, positioned at 45° angle to stem.
Flowers large, cup-shaped, calyx lobes pink, loosely arranged. Inflorescences long (9-14 cm), slightly curved, medium density, thick axis, medium petiole.
Berries medium-sized (1.0 g), round, dark brown, with waxy coating, medium detachment, medium seed count, medium skin density. Calyx long, slightly closed. Pedicel medium, brown, without hairs. Taste slightly sour, berries versatile in use. Chemical composition: dry matter — 14.6-15.4%, total sugars — 4.9-5.7%, titratable acidity — 3.5-3.7%, ascorbic acid — 258.7-378.3 mg/100 g.
Winter-hardy, medium-yielding (7.3-11.7 t/ha), moderate drought resistance, moderate resistance to diseases and pests, resistant to bud mite.
Advantages: high ascorbic acid content, resistance to bud mite.
Disadvantages: prone to shattering, requires cross-pollination.
