Description
Blackcurrant variety Kyiv Suite is a premium mid-early ripening variety developed by specialists of the Institute of Horticulture of UAAN. Berries of this variety are large, uniform, weighing from 1.7-1.8 g to 3.2-3.5 g, oval-shaped, dark black in color with shiny, tough and elastic skin. The flesh is juicy, slightly tart-sweet, greenish-brown in hue, moderately aromatic, with dry detachment, facilitating harvesting. Taste rating reaches 4.0-4.25 points, indicating high fruit quality.
Kyiv Suite bushes are medium-sized, slightly spreading, with elastic branches and shortened internodes. Bunches are of medium length, dense, arranged 2-3 per node, closely positioned on branches. The variety is characterized by high and stable yield — up to 4 kg of berries can be harvested per bush per season. Additionally, it is self-fertile, simplifying care and enhancing fruiting reliability.
Kyiv Suite has good disease resistance: the variety is resistant to powdery mildew and rust, but is moderately susceptible to anthracnose. It also exhibits relatively drought tolerance and bush technology. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to plant bushes on well-drained sites and prune after planting, leaving 2-3 buds. The optimal planting time is October.
