Description
Black currant of the «Pchelkinskaya» variety is a highly winter-hardy and high-yielding early-ripening variety bred at the Bakcharsky support point of northern horticulture. The bushes are medium-sized, sprawling, with medium-thickness, straight, and matte stems. The leaves are light green, leathery, with three lobes and blunt teeth, which endows the plant with resistance to adverse conditions. This variety is suitable for cultivation in light partial shade and requires regular care, including watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
«Pchelkinskaya» berries are black, round, glossy, with medium-thickness skin and a mass of about 1.5 g. They have a sweet-sour, refreshing taste with a tasting rating of about 4.6–4.8 points. Sugar content in the berries reaches 8%, and acidity is 2.6%, making them particularly attractive for fresh consumption and universal use. The berries are juicy, aromatic, transportable, and have good storage life, which ensures their commercial appeal.
The variety has high yield — from one bush you can collect from 3.1 to 6 kg of berries, which corresponds to an average indicator of about 40 c/ha. «Pchelkinskaya» is characterized by high resistance to winter cold, as well as medium drought and heat resistance. The variety shows resistance to diseases and pests such as gall aphid, powdery mildew, leaf blister, peach leaf curl, anthracnose, and others, which reduces the need for intensive chemical protection and facilitates plant care.
