Description
Black currant of the Usсуri variety is an interspecific spontaneous hybrid obtained at the Far Eastern Experimental Station of the All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture (VNIIR). The bushes of this variety are of medium height, semi-spreading, with dense foliage of bright green color and shiny, elastic texture. Leaves are of medium size, and berry clusters are of medium length and short. Berries are large, round, brown-black in color with medium-density skin, possessing a good sweetish taste with slight acidity and a pronounced dessert nuance. The vitamin C content in the fruits reaches 148 mg%, making them especially beneficial for health.
The Usсуri variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to major diseases and pests, such as powdery mildew, anthracnose, septoria, and spider mites. Due to these qualities, the plant is well adapted to the conditions of the Far Eastern region and is recommended for cultivation specifically in this climatic zone. The variety yields a high harvest - up to 5 kg of berries per bush, which do not shed, facilitating the harvest collection.
Black currant Usсуri is widely used as food both fresh and for preparing various products, including compotes and jams. Additionally, this shrub can serve as a decorative element in the garden, creating living hedges and borders thanks to its dense foliage and compact form. Such a variety will be an excellent addition to any garden plot, combining decorative and useful qualities.
