Reliable crop protection: Field experience with Alfa-Epoxyl

When heading out to the fields in the spring, the biggest fear is missing the moment when fungi start to compromise the yield. In my work with wheat and barley, I rely on systemic-contact fungicides, and Alfa-Epoxyl by Miaton Limited has proven to be a reliable tool when the application protocols are strictly followed.

The combination of thiophanate-methyl and epoxiconazole provides exactly what an agronomist needs: a blend of benzimidazoles and triazoles that effectively blocks pathogens both on the surface and within the plant tissue. In practice, this means that even with high humidity and the risk of rust or septoria, the crops remain healthy.

Application and Effectiveness

• Disease Control: The product excels against a wide range of threats, including powdery mildew, ear fusarium, and eyespot. The results are particularly impressive when treating rhynchosporium in barley.
• Dosage and Guidelines: We apply at a rate of 0.5–0.6 l/ha. It is important to note the Class 3 hazard rating, so standard safety precautions are mandatory. We stop applications 30 days before harvest — an ironclad rule for grain safety.
• Operational Efficiency: The suspension concentrate form mixes well in tank mixtures and does not clog sprayer nozzles, which saves valuable time during peak season operations.

The limit of two applications per season is sufficient to protect the crop during critical growth stages. My experience confirms that preventative treatment is consistently more effective than attempting to cure an already damaged field.
