SPARTANETS MAGARACHA

The Spartanets Magaracha grape variety is early-mid-season in terms of ripening, with a period of 125 to 130 days. The bushes have great growth vigor and vertical shoot direction, while few suckers are formed. The cane ripens well, and the load on the bush is 50-70 buds with pruning to 5-6 buds. Leaves are almost entire or weakly dissected, with dense bristly pubescence on the underside. Bunches are of medium size, cylindro-conical in shape, weighing from 230 to 300 grams, with medium density. Berries are small, oval, golden or wax-yellow in color with thin skin and juicy pulp.

The taste of the berries is harmonious, with a light thyme-musk aroma, which gives the wine special elegance. Sugar content varies within 22-26%, acidity — from 7 to 11 g/l. The yield of the variety is high, and the fruiting coefficient reaches 1.8-2. Dormant and replacement buds often bear fruit, which contributes to a stable harvest. The variety is characterized by good frost resistance up to -23°C and high resistance to main fungal diseases, including mildew and oidium, for which one preventive treatment is sufficient. Sometimes berries may crack and be affected by gray mold, however these phenomena are not critical and are localized independently. According to the Magarach Institute data, the variety has increased field resistance to phylloxera.

Spartanets Magaracha is widely used for the production of various types of high-quality white wines and juices. Wines from this variety are characterized by harmony, absence of foreign hybrid tones and musk, as well as light sherry aromatic shades. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance, the variety is recommended for industrial cultivation and is promising for breeding work, including in hybrid crosses with other varieties.
