Mechanism of Action and Selectivity

Alfa-Prometrin is a suspension concentrate formulated with prometryn, a systemic active ingredient of the triazine class. Its core technical advantage is its ability to penetrate plants through the root system and seedlings, blocking photosynthesis (Hill reaction). As a selective herbicide, it effectively inhibits the development of annual broad-leaved and some grass weeds while ensuring crop safety when applied according to the technical guidelines.

Soil Control: Engineering Efficiency

This product is a pre-emergence soil-applied herbicide. The primary engineering goal is to establish a robust "protective shield" in the topsoil layer. The suspension concentrate form ensures the active ingredient is evenly distributed within the soil solution, delivering consistent results regardless of the field's micro-topography. It is essential to note that soil moisture is critical for activating the herbicidal effect; under drought conditions, prometryn absorption by weed seeds is restricted, potentially lowering efficacy.

Application Guidelines

The product is engineered for use in crops such as carrots, potatoes, soybeans, peas, coriander, beans, and sunflowers. The limit of 1 application per season is set to prevent accumulation of active residues in the soil and to maintain environmental safety. The dosage ranges from 2 to 4 liters per hectare, depending on soil texture and weed infestation levels: minimum rates are advised for light (sandy) soils, while higher concentrations are required for heavy, organic-rich soils. Classified as Hazard Class 3, the product requires standard safety protocols for handling agricultural pesticides.
