"Bentazon-Star" is based on the active ingredient bentazone, belonging to the benzothiadiazinone chemical class. Unlike systemic agents that move through the vascular system, this herbicide provides contact-based action. Upon contact with the leaf surface, the substance blocks photosynthesis (photosystem II), leading to immediate growth inhibition and the subsequent destruction of weeds. Due to its selectivity, the crop can metabolize the bentazone, converting it into non-toxic compounds, ensuring safety when used at recommended rates.

Technical Specifications and Application

Formulated as a water-soluble concentrate, the product ensures rapid solubility and stability of the spray solution. As a post-emergence "insurance" herbicide, it allows agronomists to adjust field protection based on actual weed pressure. Its efficacy against a wide range of broadleaf weeds—including ragweed, pigweed, mustard, and bedstraw—makes it a fundamental tool for soybean, cereal, and flax cultivation.
