A powerful combination of imazamox and imazapyr for the systemic control of a wide range of weeds and broomrape in sunflower crops.
Description
Mechanism of Action and Selectivity
"Device Ultra" is a two-component system combining imazamox and imazapyr. This combination belongs to the imidazolinone group, whose action is based on the inhibition of the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme. For a weed, this translates to an immediate blockage of essential amino acid synthesis (valine, leucine, and isoleucine), causing growth to cease immediately upon absorption of the product through the leaves.
Its systemic action allows the herbicide to translocate through the xylem and phloem, reaching growing points even in deep-seated root systems. This is critical when dealing with perennial rhizomatous weeds like field thistle or bindweed, which are capable of rapid vegetative regeneration.
Technological Specifications and Application
The product is formulated as a water-soluble concentrate, ensuring quick preparation of the spray solution and emulsion stability. As "Device Ultra" is a post-emergence selective herbicide, its efficacy is directly dependent on the sunflower development stage. The optimal application window is between the 2 and 4 true-leaf stages of the crop.
- Broomrape (Orobanche) Control: The use of imidazolinones remains the "gold standard" for combating this parasitic weed, as it prevents attachment to sunflower roots.
- Broad Spectrum: Effectively suppresses ragweed, amaranth, lambsquarters, mustard, and cleavers.
- Application Rate: 1–1.2 L/ha provides the necessary concentration of active ingredients for complete suppression of weeds in a single application.
Hazard class 3 requires adherence to standard safety measures when handling agrochemicals. It is important to note that due to the high residual soil activity of the "Device Ultra" components, strict crop rotation must be observed, as imidazolinone residues in the soil can affect sensitive follow-up crops in subsequent seasons.

Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |
