The efficacy of Grodyl Maxi OD by Bayer is grounded in the synergy of three active components: amidosulfuron, iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium, and the mefenpyr-diethyl safener. This specific combination enables the herbicide to inhibit the ALS (acetolactate synthase) enzyme across a wide spectrum of weeds, including challenging species like galium aparine, ambrosia, and cirsium arvense.

The Advantage of Oil Dispersion (OD)

The standout feature of this product is its formulation — Oil Dispersion. Unlike standard emulsifiable concentrates, the oil-based carrier provides:

• Enhanced Adhesion: Spray droplets resist bouncing and rolling off leaf surfaces, which is essential when targeting weeds with waxy cuticles.
• Controlled Penetration: Active ingredients remain in a moist, active state on the leaf surface for longer periods, allowing them to penetrate the plant cuticle effectively even in fluctuating weather conditions.

Crop Safety via Safening Technology

The inclusion of mefenpyr-diethyl makes Grodyl Maxi OD a highly selective tool. This safener accelerates the metabolism of the active ingredients within crop tissues (wheat, barley, corn), allowing the plants to neutralize the herbicide before any physiological damage occurs. Consequently, the crop remains free of phytotoxicity even under environmental stress.

Operational Application

As a systemic post-emergence herbicide, it is designed for maximum efficiency in a single pass. With a dosage rate of 0.09–0.11 L/ha, it effectively halts weed development at critical early growth stages. Eliminating the need for repeat applications significantly reduces operational costs and soil compaction caused by heavy machinery.
