Protecting your start: Field experience with Pendigan EC

Starting a season with clean fields is half the battle won. Pendigan EC by ADAMA has become my go-to soil herbicide for creating that crucial weed-free window. Whether I’m working on onions, sunflowers, or corn, this selective herbicide acts as a reliable shield against annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds. It works systemically, blocking weed development at the cellular stage before they even surface.

Practical application and management

The emulsifiable concentrate formulation is straightforward. It’s easy to mix, stable in the tank, and—crucially—doesn't clog the spray nozzles, which keeps downtime to a minimum. Since it's a pre-emergence herbicide, timing is everything. I generally target 3–6 L/ha, adjusting the rate based on soil texture: heavier, more organic soils require the higher end of that range for a consistent herbicide barrier. It works best when there's a bit of soil moisture, which helps activate the product effectively.

• Selective action: Highly effective on target weeds while being gentle on the crop. I have never seen signs of phytotoxicity when sticking to the label instructions.
• Efficiency: Since it requires only one application per season, it simplifies my spray schedule significantly.
