A reliable soil-applied barrier for effective control of annual grass weeds during early crop development.
Description
Mechanism of Action and Selectivity
The herbicide "Stream" is based on S-metolachlor, a chloroacetamide compound. The technical core of this product lies in its ability to inhibit protein and nucleic acid synthesis in weeds during the early germination stages. Its systemic action allows the active ingredient to enter the plant through the coleoptile, which is essential for controlling annual grass weeds like barnyard grass and green foxtail before they even emerge through the soil surface.
Soil Control: Precision and Persistence
As a selective pre-emergence herbicide, "Stream" requires application to prepared soil. The product establishes a "protective shield" in the topsoil layer, which remains active for 6 to 8 weeks, depending on soil moisture and composition. This long-lasting residual effect ensures that crops develop without competition during the most critical early growth phase.
Technical Application Details
- Formulation: An emulsifiable concentrate that provides uniform dispersion of the active ingredient in the spray mixture and superior soil particle adhesion.
- Regimen: A single application is permitted with a dosage of 1–2.5 L/ha. Optimal efficacy is achieved when sufficient soil moisture is present to activate the herbicide.
- Target Crops: The product is ideally suited for intensive production of corn, soybeans, sunflowers, sorghum, and fodder beets. Due to its selective nature, S-metolachlor does not inhibit the development of these crops when label rates are followed.
The production process integrates the global standards of UPL Limited (India) with the manufacturing facilities of UPL Vietnam, ensuring chemical stability and purity of the active ingredient. As a Class 2 hazard product, strict adherence to safety protocols during the mixing and application process is required.

By type of action
Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
