Description
Mustard variety "Maria" belongs to the Sarapov group of Brassica juncea (L.) Czern., characterized by early maturity and an erucic acid-free type of plant. Plant height reaches approximately 136 cm, and the first branching stem is located low, which ensures good stability and ease of mechanized harvesting. The plant has a medium rosette diameter, a stem without anthocyanin coloring, petiolate leaves with a serrated edge and strong dissection.
Maria mustard seeds have a yellow color and average 3.15 g of mass per 1000 seeds. Seed yield is 20.5 c/ha, which exceeds the standard indicator of Slavanka type varieties by 3.4 c/ha. The fat content in seeds reaches 42.1%, and allyl oil content is 0.63%. Due to high yield and beneficial substance content, more than 20% of product is obtained when collecting oil, which is 1.33 c/ha above the standard. Moreover, mustard "Maria" has resistance to lodging (4.0 points), shattering (4.0) and drought (4.5), and is weakly affected by alternaria, foamy and fusarium.
This mustard is suitable for producing edible oil and meal, and can also be used as green fodder. High protein content (24.7%) makes it a valuable source of nutrients. Thanks to its characteristics, "Maria" is a reliable choice for both agricultural production and the food industry.
