Victoria

The "Victoria" variety belongs to the Saratov mustard (Brassica juncea L.) and represents a mid-season, non-erucic acid type plant. Height up to 179 cm, the first branching stem is at a medium level, which ensures good stand structure. Leaves are petiolate with medium dissection, and inflorescences are racemose with yellow flowers. The pod is beakless of medium length containing a medium number of seeds; the mass of 1000 seeds is 5 g, while the fat content reaches 47.8% (standard – 45.8%) and allyl oil is 0.78%. Seed yield is about 14.4 cts/ga with a possible increase of up to 1.6 cts/ga. The plant is well suited for mechanical harvesting by direct combine harvesting due to synchronous maturation.

As a cover crop, "Victoria" mustard quickly develops dense foliage, creating shade and slowing weed growth. The developed root system improves soil structure: in clay soils it loosens and aerates them, while in sandy soils it retains moisture, preventing crusting. Roots deliver nutrients from deep layers to the surface, thereby increasing soil fertility for subsequent crops.

Mustard also plays a role in biological protection: its scent repels pests, such as scab, while the presence of bright flowers attracts bees and bumblebees, ensuring pollination of neighboring plants. This increases overall row yield. The "Victoria" variety is resistant to powdery mildew, fusarium, and is not affected by brown spot, bacterial blight, and rust, making it a reliable choice for agrotechnical systems with high planting density.
