Description
Introduced by T.V. Morozov from the VNIIS of Horticulture named after I.V. Michurin, derived from seed of Vladimirskaya cherry, treated with chemical mutagen EI at a concentration of 0.1% during the germination stage. Registered in the State Register in 1997 for the Central Chernozem region.
Medium-growing tree, with a broadly rounded, spreading crown and moderate leafiness. Fruit set predominantly on one-year-old shoots — fruiting spurs. Bark on the trunk and main branches is light brown. Large branches are gray-green with a moderate number of lenticels. Buds are egg-shaped, strongly deviated from the branches, above average size, inversely egg-shaped, with double-toothed margins, smooth surface, matte texture, light green color, and no pubescence. Leaf petioles are medium in length and thickness, with anthocyanin pigmentation along the entire petiole length. There are 1-2 small red glands at the base of the leaf and on the petiole. Bracts are short and early-decaying. Flowers are large, white, rose-shaped. Petal shape is round. Flowering is early. Stigma is positioned higher relative to the stamens.
Fruits are large (mass 4.6-5.0 g), round, with a concave apex, moderate depression at the base, and a small, barely noticeable ventral seam. Peduncle is long and medium thickness. A distinct separation layer forms between the fruit and peduncle. Fruits are red with a small number of small subcutaneous dots. Stone is medium-sized and round. Flesh is red, soft in texture, tender consistency, juicy. Flavor is dessert-like with high sweetness and very low acidity.
Fruits ripen early — in Michurinsk in the second decade of June. Transportability is good. Chemical composition of fruits: sugars — 12.77%; acids — 0.90%; ascorbic acid — 10.0 mg/100g. Dessert variety.
Fruit production begins on the 3rd-4th year. Yield is 50-70 centners/ha under Michurinsk conditions. Partially self-fertile. Best pollinators: Ostgheim Grio, Rossoshansky Grio, Vladimirskaya, Studentcheskaya. Easily propagated by green cuttings (up to 70% rooting in some years). Best rootstock — Vladimirskaya. Pruning is similar to the 'Lyubskaya' variety — shortening bare branches. Tree is highly winter-hardy, moderately drought-resistant with enhanced resistance to coccomyces. Distinctive features: light green leaves and very early ripening, red fruits.
Advantages of the variety: early fruiting, very early ripening, winter-hardiness, regular fruiting, disease resistance, dessert flavor.
Disadvantages: moderate resistance to coccomyces when tested under severe infection conditions; bare branches due to untimely pruning.
