Description
The blackcurrant variety 'Academic' was bred by scientists of the Landscape Design and Ecology Department of the Agronomy Faculty of the Buryat State Agricultural Academy. This new variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and self-fertility, which ensures stable fruiting even under harsh climatic conditions. The medium ripening period of the berries makes it convenient for cultivation in various regions, especially in Eastern Siberia.
The yield of the 'Academic' variety can reach up to 12 kilograms from one bush, which is a significant indicator for blackcurrants. The berries are universal in use: they are excellent for processing into compotes, jams, juices, and jellies, which makes this variety attractive for both personal consumption and commercial cultivation. Furthermore, the variety is easily propagated by vegetative methods, including green and woody cuttings, as well as various types of layering and bush division.
The variety passed state variety testing and has been included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia, which confirms its quality and suitability for use in agriculture. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptation to the Eastern Siberian climate, 'Academic' is a reliable choice for gardeners and farmers seeking to obtain a high-quality blackcurrant crop.
