Description
Beauty of Lviv black currant is a popular variety with medium ripening time, characterized by stable and high fruiting. The bushes are medium-sized, compact, and not sprawling, reaching a height of about 1-1.5 meters. The branches are straight and thick, with medium or short clusters, densely arranged. The berries are large, one-sided, weighing up to 5 grams, round, black, and shiny. The skin is of medium thickness, elastic and tough, with dry detachment. The flesh is dense, brownish in color, with a pleasant sour-sweet taste, confirmed by a tasting score of 4.5 points. The berries ripen uniformly and almost simultaneously in July, facilitating harvest. The Beauty of Lviv variety is highly frost-resistant and does not require winter protection. It is resistant to major fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, septoria, and anthracnose, significantly reducing the need for treatments and increasing harvest reliability. The bushes can fruit in one place for up to 12-14 years, and with proper care and pruning, a single bush can yield 4.5–5 kg of berries per season. Black currant is moisture-loving, so regular watering is especially important during summer, although the variety can tolerate minor drought. The berries of the Beauty of Lviv variety have high transportability and versatility in use. They contain up to 13% sugars, including fructose and glucose, 2–3% organic acids, as well as significant amounts of pectin, vitamins C, A, PP, microelements, and essential oils. Due to these properties, the berries are widely used both fresh and for making jams, compotes, juices, and liqueurs. They are also suitable for freezing, allowing their beneficial qualities to be preserved for a long time.
