Kiyanochka

Red currant variety 'Kiyanochka' is a high-yielding, mid-early variety developed in Ukraine in 1986. The bushes of this variety are medium-sized, semi-spreading, and compact, with thick stems and dark green foliage. The plant exhibits high winter hardiness and drought resistance, capable of withstanding temperatures down to -40 °C, as well as heat and fungal diseases. The variety is adaptable to growing conditions and requires less fertile soil, preferring sunny areas and loamy or clay soils. 'Kiyanochka' berries are large, round, weighing approximately 0.9-1 gram, dark red in color with a glossy sheen. The flesh is light pink, firm, and has a pleasant sour-sweet flavor. Berries are arranged in medium-length elongated clusters, with up to 17 berries per cluster. Berries ripen uniformly, typically in the first or second decade of July, allowing for simultaneous harvest. Berries are easy to transport, do not bruise, and retain their quality during transit. The 'Kiyanochka' variety is versatile in use: berries make excellent jelly, juices, compotes, jams, wines, marmalades, and sauces. Due to its high yield—up to 150-170 centners per hectare—and resistance to adverse conditions, this variety is popular among gardeners and producers. It combines high-quality fruit, ease of harvesting, and wide culinary applications.
