Description
Sморodina sorta Lvivska Sladka represents an early variety of red currant with round, large berries weighing up to 1.5 grams. The berries have a bright, shiny red color and juicy, aromatic flesh with a refreshing sweet-tart flavor. The skin of the berries is elastic and tough, ensuring high transportability and good storage life. The fruits ripen simultaneously in the first decade to mid-June, depending on the climatic conditions of the growing region.
The bushes of this variety are medium-sized, semi-spreading, reaching heights of 1.2 to 1.4 meters with strong, branched shoots. Inflorescences are long and densely arranged, with 15 to 20 berries forming on a single cluster. It is recommended to plant bushes with intervals of 1.0–1.5 meters between plants and 1.5–2.0 meters between rows for optimal growth. Yield is stable and high — on average, 3.0 to 3.5 kilograms of berries per bush.
The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, tolerating temperatures down to -34 degrees Celsius, as well as resistance to diseases and pests. It is drought-resistant and possesses good resistance to various diseases of fruit shrubs. Due to its flavor qualities and berry toughness, the Lvivska Sladka variety is ideal for both fresh consumption and preservation and canning.
