Description
Early-maturing variety, obtained at Buryat PIAOS (now Buryat NIISS) from crossing black currant form and 'Primorsky Champion' variety. Authors: T.I. Voronina, M.R. Kuklina, I.I. Malov, T.I. Prokofyeva. Since 1987, included in the State Register of Selection Achievements approved for use in the East Siberian region.
Medium-height, medium-spreading bush. Growing shoots are straight, brown-green, slightly shiny, with dark-purple tips.
Leaf five-lobed, medium-sized, gray-green. Leaf blade slightly hairy, matte, leathery, loosely textured, wrinkled, strongly concave. Middle lobe is elongated, folded like a boat. Leaf tips are sharp, indentations between lobes are deep. Leaf base has a central funnel-shaped notch. Teeth are sharp, medium-sized, slightly curled.
Flowers medium-sized, pale-pink, bell-shaped. Stamens are positioned at the level of the pistil. Fruit cluster medium-sized, 6.0 cm. Cluster axis medium-sized, straight, hairy.
Berries medium-sized (0.7-1.8 g), round, slightly elliptical, black, matte, with weak glandular hairs, medium-thick skin, dry detachment, good transportability. Berry stalk medium-sized, green, thin, calyx closed and small. Flavor sweet-sour (4.3 points), tender, with aroma. Berries are of universal use. Chemical composition: dry matter - 11.8-13.2%, titratable acidity - 2.0-2.4%, total sugars - 6.3-9.7%, ascorbic acid - 177.0-315.0 mg/100 g, soluble pectin - 0.4-0.5%.
Highly winter-hardy (-41,-43°С without damage), highly self-fertile, highly resistant to powdery mildew and bud mite (0 points), propagated by green and woody cuttings, layering, average yield 5.8 t/ha, maximum - 10.1 t/ha. Best pollinators: 'Primorsky Champion', 'Zabaykalochka'.
Advantages of the variety: winter-hardiness, good self-fertility, high resistance to powdery mildew, anthracnose, bud mite.
Disadvantages of the variety: early flowering, weak drought resistance.
