Description
Jonker van Tets — a medium-early red currant variety developed in the Netherlands in 1941. The berries are large, weighing about 0.7–2 grams, bright red, with a dense skin and a pleasant tart-sweet flavor. The berries ripen almost simultaneously, facilitating harvest.
The variety is characterized by high yield — up to 16 tons per hectare, or about 6.5 kg per bush. It exhibits high winter hardiness and resistance to major fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, and is also weakly affected by anthracnose and bud mites. Additionally, Jonker van Tets is drought-resistant and requires minimal care, making it suitable for both commercial cultivation and home gardening.
The berries of this variety are versatile in use: they are excellent for fresh consumption as well as for processing. The berries contain 10% more juice than black currants, enhancing their value for juice production and other products. Flowering and fruiting are resistant to frost, ensuring a stable yield even under adverse climatic conditions.
